HP MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month so be sure to #SHINEBLUENS.
Did you know that Autism has increased over 100% in the last 10 years? Autism is now the fastest growing and most commonly diagnosed neurological disorder in Canada!

Tech Ed club today - Start time is 12.30, everyone welcome

Grade 8 and 9 science - your projects are due to be presented to Mrs. Bradbury this week. If you do not want to present in front of the class, make an appointment to present this week at lunch time.

No science extra help today as the Oilers play the lowly Mooseheads today at lunch.

Options and Opportunities (O2) Applications packets are available outside Mr. Lang’s office. The packets include the application form and two reference letters (one from a teacher and one a community member). Students will be given extra time to get these in to Mr. Lang. The new due date is Wednesday 11 April. 

Grade 9 Field Trip All of the grade 9s will be visiting a skills competition and taking a tour of NSCC Akerley on the morning/afternoon of Friday 20 April. This will be a great opportunity to check out potential career and educational paths. Please bring in your consent forms in to Mr. Lang as soon as possible.

BEEA Honey with Heart is a youth-led social enterprise project where participants (ages 12 - 17 years) are responsible for managing beehives, ensuring the well being of the bees and educating their community on the importance of bees on a global level.They are currently accepting application for their next Youth Executive Council. The Youth Executive Council will be made up of 4 youth from our neighbourhood (and the hives & bees will live in our community too). If you are interested in bee-ing on the executive council, please see Mr. Lang for an application.

 


HP SPORTS

Badminton: Badminton tryouts will resume Today after school from 3 - 3:45.

Challenge Cup: Highland Parks favorite team the Leafs beat the Flyers in their first game to start off the 2018 cup playoffs. The Oilers will play the lowly, lowly Mooseheads, Highland parks 4th favorite team today at lunch.
