HP MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Week 2

Remember to bring in your student fees and media release forms if you have not already. If you can’t pay right away please talk to your homeroom teacher.

March 10th 1913: Heroine of the Underground Railroad
Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and political activist. She was a conductor with the Underground Railroad and made 19 secret trips to the American South and guided more than 300 slaves to freedom in Canada. She died in New York in 1913.

Take Our Kids to Work day is Wednesday 14 November for the grade 9s. Find someplace to spend the day and learn about a potential career! Bring in your consent forms ASAP.

There will be a quick Student Council meeting at the beginning of lunch in Ms Pratt’s room for the Dance Committee.

Music: If you are interested in taking free string lessons here at Highland Park, please see Mr. Lucas in the office to sign up.

We are very excited to announce that Highland Park will be taking part in the Terry Fox run Friday October 5th from 1 - 3pm. If you bring in a money donation you will be excused from class for the afternoon to take part in the run/walk. The class that raises the most money will receive a prize. Start bringing in your money now, don’t wait.

Dance: The first dance of the school year is this Wednesday, Sept. 26th from 7-9pm. The theme is Neon 80’s! There is a sheet on the notice board where you can let us know what songs you would like to hear at the dance. Fill in your requests today!

 


HP SPORTS

Football:
There is NO practice today due to the weather.  Mr. Lucas will make an announcement today when we find out if today’s game is cancelled.

Girls Soccer team is scheduled to play today at St. Stephens field against Armbrae Academy at 4pm. Listen to the announcements for possible game cancellation due to weather conditions.

The Boys soccer team played Rockingstone yesterday and collected their 2nd straight win. Congrats Boys!

There will be a Girls volleyball tryout Thursday at lunch starting at 12:15.

HPJH School Clothing

Mr. Tortola will be organizing the school clothing order this year.  Please listen to announcements in the coming weeks for information on how you can own your very own HP gear.
